The North Central region supports more than 160 Landcare and community based natural resource management (NRM) groups, and several Landcare networks. Landcare in the North Central region is about productivity, partnership, participation and people.
The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) delivers the Victorian Landcare Program, funded by the State Government. The program includes the Victorian Landcare Grants, the monthly regional newsletter 'Ground Cover', training, workshops and activities that address a range of NRM issues.
The North Central CMA also hosts the Australian Government's Caring for our Country Regional Landcare Facilitator project, which aims to support community members to adopt sustainable land management practices and protect natural resources. The project hosts a number of workshops, short courses and field days across the North Central region.
To mark the beginning of Landcare Week the Minister for Environment and Climate Change Ryan Smith has released the Victorian Landcare Program Strategic Plan, which will guide the Victorian Government's key program of support to strengthen Landcare, i.e. the Victorian Landcare Program.More
